Iran plans to build a hydropower plant in Georgia and seeks to import electricity from the former Soviet republic, wire services reported.

Iranian officials said they not only want to import hydropower from Georgia but also are interested in developing wind energy investments there, reports indicate.

Recently, Ecuador and Iran agreed to construct hydroelectric projects in Ecuador, wire services reported. The countries plan to build a trio of hydro projects, with a hydroelectric generation capacity of more than 100 megawatts.
